Safety Notice – Dropping off and Collecting from School

As the mornings and evenings are getting darker and the weather is deteriorating, we are seeing an increase in the number of students getting dropped off and picked up by car. 

This increase in traffic is causing great congestion outside of the front of the school of which is proving to be a safety concern.

If you are dropping off your child or collecting them from the front of the school, please can we request that you adhere to the following:

  • There is a drop off point within the carpark. Please use this to drop your child at school and then move on for the next driver to also do the same.
  • Please refrain from parking on the slip road directly in front of the school as this causes obstruction, prevents emergency services from accessing the school quickly and also results in other cars being backed up onto the roundabout which causes a significant safety hazard.
  • Please refrain from parking on the road around the roundabout, this is causing obstruction to other vehicles entering the estate and is also a safety hazard for our students.
  • Please ensure you are not blocking any walkways or crossings as it is imperative that our students are able to cross the road safely.
  • Please consider our local residents who are trying to access their own homes by not blocking their access.
  • If parking at school, please use a designated parking bay for this.

To alleviate congestion, where possible, please drop off and collect your child from the rear of the school (opposite Ingleby Mill Primary). Gates open here at 8.00am and are opened again at the end of the day or alternatively, students are encouraged to bike or walk to school.

Bike sheds are available on school site for students to store their bike throughout the day.

If your child is biking to school, please ensure that they have lights on their bike for safety and also a bike lock to secure their bike during storage.
