Martyn Thorpe, Chair of EAB

Martyn has worked in Education in all phases since 1976 in a number of roles. After starting out as a Teacher of English, he progressed to Head of Department in a secondary school and Sixth Form College where he also led the Faculty of Communications and Humanities.

He returned to the 11-18 phase as Director of Sixth Form and, later Assistant Headteacher at Garforth Community College where he was a member of the working group that established the Delta Academies Trust in 2006. Following this he has worked in a number of the group’s Academies in different roles including Vice and Associate Principal. In semi-retirement he continues to fulfil these roles as a Consultant.

Martyn has a daughter and son in their twenties, is an avid sports fan and enjoys the theatre and foreign travel.

He says “I am proud to be the first Chair of Ingleby Manor EAB. After 28 years working in education, this is the most exciting project I have been involved in. The opportunity to work with the Trustees, Principal and staff in establishing the school is one I relish and, I know, others envy.”
