Acting Principal

Zoe Matthewman is our Science Specialist. We asked her to tell us a bit about her background and why she has joined the school.

“I feel extremely proud and privileged to have been appointed as the Assistant Principal for Ingleby Manor Free School and to have the opportunity to work alongside such a talented and passionate team.

I started teaching in 2001 after successfully completing placements at Grangefield and Eaglescliffe secondary schools. My first formal teaching post was at Nunthorpe school where I completed my NQT year before going back to work for Mrs Darnell at Eaglescliffe Comprehensive school. I admired Mrs Darnell’s leadership style and the way she invested in her students and staff alike. It was her who gave me the confidence and self belief to apply to become a Local Authority consultant across Redcar and Cleveland. I supported both Primary and Secondary schools within the Authority for the next few years but missed being able to be part of the ongoing journey of a school. For this reason I took up a post as Faculty leader at High Tunstall Secondary in Hartlepool and then Assistant Head Teacher at the Education Village in Darlington.

Inspiring today’s young people is a privilege and in an educational climate where change is the main constant. It is exciting to be able to be part of such a leading edge school who will truly cater for all students at such as individual level to hone their natural strengths and abilities and enable them to be our industry and social leaders of the future.”
